The link between latex allergy and balloons has caused great concern, especially among parents who have realized a child has a high sensitivity level to latex. Constant exposure to products such as balloons and pacifiers that contain latex can be troublesome for those who suffer from latex allergies. Symptoms of an allergic reaction to latex include:

Vytex® Natural Rubber Latex (NRL) is an innovative latex material with significantly reduced levels of the allergy-causing proteins commonly found in natural rubber latex. It was designed as a "drop in" material and integrates seamlessly into manufacturing operations that currently use NRL or synthetic substitutes. This development means that balloons can be manufactured with this new material and retain all of the desirable qualities of latex, with the added benefit of substantially reduced protein levels. These reduced levels substantially decrease the risk of developing allergic reactions to latex.
