Latex Rubber Balloons
Question
Latex rubber balloons cause me to sneeze and my eyes water. Does this mean I have a latex allergy?
Answer
If you are having allergic reaction symptoms whenever you come into contact with a latex rubber balloon, then you may have latex allergies. We recommend first contacting your physician or healthcare provider about your concerns and consider being tested for latex allergy.
Vystar Corporation created Vytex® Natural Rubber Latex (NRL) because the world needs better latex products such as balloons. Vystar’s research team devoted more than seven years to finding a way to significantly reduce the antigenic proteins proteins typically found in traditional natural rubber latex which may be causing allergic reactions to latex. This patented process uses the same green chemical compound that has been accepted for use in water purification. This development means that balloons can be manufactured with this new Vytex and retain all of the desirable qualities of latex, with the added benefit of substantially reduced protein levels. These reduced levels may decrease the risk of developing allergic reactions to latex.
If you believe you suffer from an allergy from latex rubber balloons, contact your physician or healthcare provider about your concerns and consider being tested for latex allergy. For more information on allergies, visit the
American Academy of Asthma, Allergy and Immunology website
