The creator and producer of Vytex natural rubber latex has agreed to merge with EcoGlove Asia Pacific Sdn. Bhd., an inventor and maker of sustainable, reusable examination gloves.
The proposal is nonbinding and subject to the completion of due diligence by both Vystar and EcoGlove. Terms of the merger have not been finalized, the firms said, but both companies are hoping to complete the deal by Sept. 30.

Consumers with allergies to natural rubber latex, aka NRL, may get some relief from a new type of latex condom that retains all of the advantages of traditional latex and (almost) none of the allergens. Plus, an added bonus is that the new condom is claimed to be more environmental friendly. memory foam mattresses and some pillows. Allergic reactions to polyurethane can include itching

Atlanta-based Vystar Corporation has developed Vytex NRL, a natural rubber latex in which the antigenic proteins are deactivated without affecting the desirable properties of latex. Alatech Healthcare has filed an FDA 510(k) for an exam glove made with Vytex NRL, as well as one for a condom. "To date, well over 500 protein test have been performed on Vytex and various products made with Vytex," said Bill Doyle, president and CEO of Vystar Corp. "While the protein level in latex can vary from tree to tree and season to season, we carefully monitor the protein levels, especially antigenic protein levels of Vytex NRL to ensure that users are exposed to significantly reduced levels of proteins in Vytex NRL and products made with Vytex NRL."

Vystar Corp. has introduced Vytex, a natural rubber latex made using a patented technology designed to remove the proteins that cause allergic reactions.
The process has been engineered to retain the desirable characteristics of latex, such as strength, elasticity and tactile sensitivity, according to Bill Doyle, president and chief executive officer of the Duluth, Ga.-based company. He said the process is relatively simple and that additional costs for foam made from the latex would be "negligible."
Vytex allows latex rubber, already considered a ?green? product, to stay green but removes proteins, Doyle said.
Doyle said the treatment process is best done at the source of the latex rubber?harvesting sites in southeast Asia. The process is being used by Revertex Malaysia, a latex processing company that treats the rubber and then sells the treated liquid latex to companies that will make it into cushioning foam.
The treated latex has been on the market since June and some bedding manufacturers are trial-testing the finished latex foam, according to the company.

ATLANTA-Latex allergies can limit or end the career of medical professionals who deal with latex-based medical devices constantly.
Latex allergies tend to develop over time from continual contact with latex materials. The allergy is relatively rare in the general population with approximately 3 per cent suffering fro the allergy, but it can affect up to 17 per cent of health care workers. Like other allergies, the severity of the reaction can range: in mild cases, individuals could have only skin irritation but in severe cases, patients can go into anaphylactic shock when exposed to latex.
If you are allergic to latex, the problem is with the proteins in the substance. This is where Vystar comes in.
Vystar Corp is an Atlanta-based startup that has developed a new patented technology that reduces the protein responsible for latex allergy to nearly undetectable levels. The company was founded in 2000, and has raised $7 million in private investment since 2004 alone.
Clearly, the technology has investors interest.
There?s good reason for that interest. Some health care professionals have been forced to leave their work due to latex allergy. At a time when medical care is at a premium, losing professionals at the peak of their abilities due to allergy is a burden on both the individual and society.
While reducing the allergen is good news, the question is whether the medical devices will continue to function properly. In most cases, latex is used for medical grade gloves that provide protection to the health care worker from patient bodily fluids. Vystar CEO, Bill Doyle, says that Vytex NRL reduces the allergens while maintaining critical product qualities, including barrier protection, strength and durability.
Consumers will have to wait to buy this product themselves. Vystar has just signed a manufacturing agreement with a US manufacturer of condoms and straight dipped gloves to develop products made with Vytex NRL. However, final biocompatibility tests with the US FDA are still pending.
